On December 6, 2024, the first case was pleaded before the Brussels local division of the Unified Patent Court (UPC). The UPC entered into force on June 1, 2023. For the first time in Europe, civil disputes, and more specifically patent disputes between private parties, were before an international court composed of judges of different nationalities. 18 countries of the European Union participate in the UPC.
